Glue of the Month
Aleene's Original "Tacky Glue"
There are a plethora of Aleene's Craft Adhesive products, all designed for a specific use: Paper Napkin Applique Adhesive, Jewel-it Adhesive, 3-D Foiling Glue and Reverse Collage Glue (we have no idea what this one does). All are PVA adhesives, that are non-toxic and are designed to work on fabric and paper and other crafty materials. They work best on porous materials, but will work on some non-porous material such as glass and plastic. We consulted a costumer on these products, and he spoke very highly of Jewel-it and Tack-it Over & Over.
We have put Aleene's Original Tacky Glue through our tests and the results were positive. It dries very quickly and clearly. The bond is flexible and quite strong. It is not water resistant however. This glue is a good "all-purpose" craft adhesive. The one thing that we feel we must warn you on is the marketing strategy of this company. These glues are not cheap, and we suspect that Aleene's Original Tacky Glue could be just as effective as Aleene's Paper Napkin Applique adhesive for a variety of projects, and that it might not be necessary to purchase the exact glue recommended for each project.
