March 9, 2019  Researchers glue bar codes on to ants to study individual behavior within group (w/ video) – A team of researchers made up of two behavioral ecologists from the University of Lausanne and a robotics engineer from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology has developed a novel way to study the behavior of individual ants in a colony—they've glued bar codes to their backs which they scan from above. In their paper published in the journal Science, the group describes how their groundbreaking approach has led to new discoveries about how ants behave. (Laurent Keller and Danielle Mersch)

July 7, 2017  New superglue allows for bonding stretchable hydrogels – A team of researchers at Johannes Kepler University Linz has developed a new type of glue that can be used to bond hydrogels to other hard or soft objects. In their paper published on the open-access site Science Advances, the group explains their development process, the structure of the glue, how it works and in what ways.

Nov 28, 2011  London fights air pollution with glue – London is applying a calcium-based adhesive to streets to trap particulate air pollution and, believe it or not, it's working. The city's street sweepers have applied the adhesive to air pollution hot spots around the city and particulate levels in those areas have dropped 14 percent. The project has cost the city $1.4 million so far, which is pretty expensive, but 14 percent is a pretty substantial reduction from glue alone and a far cry from a payout of $450 million if they didn't meet the standards.

Mar 20, 2011  Man Cannot remove his tiny hat – Shawn has superglued a miniature sequined fedora to the side of his head, and what was fashionable by night has become a living nightmare by day. In related news, Dr. Harry Coover, the creator of Super Glue, has passed away at the age of 94.

Nov 2, 2008  Man is found glued to toilet seat – from the classy BBC no less. A man had to be taken to hospital still attached to a steel toilet after super-glue was deliberately smeared on the seat. Firefighters were unable to free the man and were forced to remove the entire toilet with the man attached.

Mar 14, 2007  Police rescue 91-year-old man glued to roof – A 91-year-old German sparked a rescue operation when he slipped mending his roof and got stuck fast in tar "like a beetle on its back," police said on Tuesday.

Nov 5, 2005  Man Sues After Using Glue-Covered Toilet – a man who claims a Home Depot's Louisville store ignored his cries for help after he fell victim to a prank and was glued to a toilet seat. (Thanks to melissa for the tip.) Never underestimate the power of glue.

April 13, 2005  New Glue Derived from Clinging Mussels – Scientists have derived a new glue from a natural adhesive made by rock-clinging mollusks. It could provide an environmentally friendly alternative to current wood-binding materials.

Aug 14, 2004  NASA says foam glue killed Astronauts – NASA concluded after extensive testing that the process of applying some sections of foam by hand with spray guns was at fault.
